St. Paul Cash Spiel
How Team Selection Works
October 8–11, 2026 · Saint Paul Curling Club · Saint Paul, Minnesota
The St. Paul Cash Spiel fields 24 teams per division. Team selection is based primarily on World Curling Federation (WCF) World Team Ranking points, with limited discretion held by the Organizing Committee as outlined below.
How to apply
Applying for the St. Paul Cash Spiel requires two registrations, both completed by August 1, 2026:
- Register your team on CurlingZone so the Organizing Committee can confirm your WCF World Team Ranking points for selection.
- Submit your application on cashspiel.com so the committee has your roster, contact details, and confirmation that you've agreed to the terms.
Only applications received by August 1, 2026 will be considered during the initial selection process.
Selection process
Team selection will be determined using WCF World Team Ranking points as of August 1, 2026 — the day applications close. The field is filled in two pools:
Pool 1 — U.S. Teams (10 teams per division)
The first pool consists of 10 teams based in the United States, selected strictly by WCF World Team Ranking points. The 10 highest-ranked eligible U.S. teams in the applicant pool are entered into the tournament.
Pool 2 — Open field (14 teams per division)
The remaining 14 spots are filled from all submitted applications — both U.S. and international teams. Selection is based on WCF World Team Ranking points regardless of country; the highest-ranked teams not already selected in Pool 1 fill these positions.
Timeline
Registration fee
The fee is $1,000 USD per team. Payment is collected after you've been selected and confirmed — not when you submit your application. Payment instructions are sent with your invitation.
Payment
Payment is due by September 1, 2026. Teams that haven't paid by this date may have their spot reassigned to the next available team. If you need to discuss timing, reach out to the bonspiel chair before the deadline — we'd rather work with you than release your spot.
Organizing Committee discretion
If any positions remain unfilled after the selection process above (e.g., insufficient qualified applicants or withdrawals), the Organizing Committee reserves the right to fill remaining spots at its discretion.
Additional notes
- The Organizing Committee reserves the right to verify all team information and eligibility.
- Any ties in WCF World Team Ranking points may be resolved at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.
- Selected teams will be notified following the close of the application period.
